Customer data, media retention and deletion

Understand tenant responsibilities for customer data, attachment retention, exports, deletion and privacy requests in Chattill.

For Owners, privacy and security administrators9 min readUpdated

Use customer data for a clear purpose

The tenant decides why it communicates with customers and what data it records. Collect only what is needed, keep it accurate, restrict access, and document consent and lawful messaging practices that apply to the business.

Configure attachment retention

Tenant administrators can choose an available retention period for conversation media. Expiry removes eligible stored attachment bytes while preserving message text, timestamps and audit history where configured. Public catalogue or payment assets follow separate controls.

Handle access and deletion requests

  • Verify the requester before disclosing or deleting personal data.
  • Identify the correct tenant and customer record.
  • Export only the information the requester is entitled to receive.
  • Respect legal or accounting retention duties before deletion.
  • Record completion without exposing the customer’s data in general logs.

Public policies

The Chattill Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Data Deletion page are publicly available from the website footer. A tenant should also provide its own customer-facing privacy and messaging notices where required.
